Book Fair to be a highlight of King Harold Day
There’s something new coming to King Harold Day this year - a Book Fair.
It’s happening because two members of the King Harold Day committee, Isabelle Perrichon and Tony O’Connor, visited France for the Bayeux medieval festival last year and were very impressed by the huge book fair which is part of it.
We are starting in a small way, with just four authors of medieval period books.
The first is Paul Doherty, who lives and works near Waltham Abbey, being the Headteacher of Trinity High School at Woodford. Paul, a well-known author, has published many historical novels over the years, both in his own name and under pen names.
Then there is Simon Lister, who has published a trilogy of books about King Arthur.
Charles Jones was the inspiration behind the fight to protect the battlefield at Fulford, near York, where the first of the three 1066 battles was fought. He now runs an annual event commemorating the Fulford battle, and has written a number of books.
Steve Pollington, an expert speaker and writer in the Olde English language of Saxon England, has written several books about the period and its beliefs.
The four authors will have the opportunity to speak briefly about their books, which will be on sale all day at the Book Fair, to be held in the Abbey Church Centre, Abbey Gardens, from 10.00am to 4.00pm on Saturday 17th October.
The King Harold Day Society is grateful to the Abbey Church for the use of the centre, and to Lee Valley Regional Park Authority for allowing King Harold Day to take place in the Abbey Gardens.
