King Harold Day has paid for new interpretation boards in Abbey Gardens

While you’re in the Abbey Gardens......

do look at the twelve new interpretation panels around the site. They explain the history of the Abbey and tell you a bit about the remains of the buildings you can still see, and those that are no more.   They have been provided by the King Harold Day Society, with the help of Lottery funding.  We believe they will increase interest in the history of the town, both from Waltham Abbey residents and tourists.   In addition to the Lottery funding, the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority and Epping Forest District Council contributed to the cost.   The boards have received much attention from residents and tourists and are an undoubted asset to the Abbey Gardens.
